The South Asian Bar Association of North America (SABA North America) is pleased to announce it has selected Asker A. Saeed to serve as its new Executive Director. A national leader on diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, Asker brings a wealth of leadership, networking, fundraising, and strategic thinking experience to the leadership of the bar association.  "We are excited to welcome Asker as SABA begins its next chapter. Asker’s skillset, background, and deep understanding of the legal market position him extremely well to help guide SABA North America’s strategy and vision, and our long-term organizational growth plan," said Aneesh Mehta, President of SABA North America.

Anjula Singh recently stepped down as Executive Director after six years of service.  "We sincerely thank Anjula for her leadership and for helping SABA North America grow these last six years.  We are very appreciative of her service, wish her the best, and hope that she stays engaged in the future," said Rippi Gill, SABA North America President-Elect.

Asker joins us from international AMLAW 100 law firm Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP, where as Director of Diversity & Inclusion he was responsible for leading the firm’s global diversity and inclusion initiative. Prior to joining Fried Frank, he was the head of Diversity and Inclusion at Day Pitney LLP, a northeast regional AMLAW 200 firm.  Prior to becoming a diversity and inclusion professional, Asker practiced law at Murtha Cullina LLP and Robinson & Cole LLP, both northeast regional law firms, and with United Technologies Corporation, a Fortune 50 international manufacturing company. Throughout his career he has been a tireless advocate for greater diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and has been a loyal and staunch advocate of SABA North America and its chapters, having most recently served on the SABA North America National Advisory Council. He is also a founding member of the South Asian Bar Association of Connecticut.

“I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to support the mission and further develop the long term goals of the bar association that has played such a pivotal role in the professional and career development of so many South Asian attorneys across North America,” said Asker.
