Thank for joining us in Houston! We look forward to having a monumental Conference in Washington, D.C. next summer from July 13-16, 2017.

Conference Highlights

WHAT: We’ll be “Fueling Our Future” in 2016! This year SABA North America is going to Mess with Texas as we head to Houston for our Annual Conference.

WHY: This is the one time of year to meet with hundreds of South Asian attorneys in a professional, yet casual atmosphere. You can strengthen your community ties or create new ones while advancing your career knowledge through CLEs and interacting with others in your field. From the Welcome Reception to the Gala to the panels and networking events in between, the SABA North America Conference is the best place to mix and mingle, learn and share, with the best of the South Asian legal community.

WHO: In addition to those of us attending the Conference, we’ll also have several featured speakers. Judge Ravi Sandill will welcome us to his fair city during Thursday’s Welcome Reception. As the first South Asian-American District Court Judge in the state, he’s the perfect Houston-ian for the job. Another Texan lawyer breaking barriers is former Texas Secretary of State Nandita Berry. She is the only person of South Asian descent to have held that office in any state. She will address our attendees during Friday’s lunch. Our keynote speaker during Saturday’s Gala will be Rais Bhuiyan, the survivor of vicious hate crime in the days following September 11. He not only found the strength to forgive his attacker, but campaigned to keep him from being executed. His insight at a time when hate crimes against South Asians are escalating should be fascinating.

WHEN: May 12-15, 2016

WHERE: Hilton Americas-Houston1600 Lamar St, Houston, TX 77010
Directions to the hotel can be found here.

SCHOLARSHIP: We try to make our Conference as affordable as possible, but know that sometimes members may need help with the costs. We are introducing a Scholarship to help defray the costs. For more information or to apply, click here.
