Ever wondered how sommeliers can figure out where a wine is from by sight and taste? Or how to navigate a multi-page wine list at a restaurant? What wine should you order for the table within a certain budget when dining on business? Join SABA North America for a wine webinar: “Everything you’ve ever wanted to know about wine but never asked.” SABA North America member, lawyer and WSET Level II certified wine lover Nina R. Tandon will guide you through tasting notes for three wines, and answer each of these questions in this interactive virtual event on June 10 from 7-8 p.m. EST.  Registrants will receive an email with a list of three types of wines to purchase to taste during the webinar, but no purchase is necessary to participate. You can learn tasting notes and drink with whatever you have at home as well.

Bio:

Nina R. Tandon is Associate General Counsel of the American Psychological Association (“APA”) where she manages legal and organizational risk for Intellectual Property, Privacy and Contracts. Prior to joining APA, Nina worked in private practice and served as a law clerk to two federal judges.
In her free time, Nina is an avid wine consumer who strongly believes wine should be like bar associations – diverse and accessible. She holds a Level II Award in Wine from the Wine Spirit and Education Trust (“WSET”). WSET’s four levels of award qualifications are globally recognized as an international standard in wine and spirit knowledge. WSET’s Level II Award in Wines is a beginner-to intermediate-level qualification exploring wines, suitable for industry professionals and wine enthusiasts. More information regarding WSET and its programming is available on the website: https://www.wsetglobal.com/ .

Amisha R. Patel is SABA-DC’s current president and a Litigation Associate at Dechert LLP, where she focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, class action defense, and white collar investigations. Her litigation experience spans a variety of industries, including automotive, consumer products, telecommunications, life sciences, oil and gas, and sports. Prior to joining Dechert, Amisha spent seven years practicing at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP and as an adjunct professor in the Scholarly Writing Program at The George Washington Law School. In 2017, SABA North America honored Amisha in its inaugural class of Rising Stars. Amisha was most recently honored with Dechert’s 2019 Diversity Champion Award.

For the past few months, Amisha has been cooking up a storm and often consults Nina (her personal wine expert) for appropriate wine and spirit pairings. While Amisha’s taste has evolved from favoring Riesling in her college days to now enjoying a bolder and heavier red Cabernet Sauvignon (it’s like a workout, right?), she still understands very little about the intricacies of wine choices and happily offers herself up as a guinea pig for this exciting endeavor.
