Speaker Bios:


Priya Sopori

Priya Sopori is a partner at Greenberg Glusker, LLP and Co-Chair of its Cannabis Industry Group.  She specializes in crisis litigation and trying cases on behalf of high-profile clients in the entertainment industry.  Born in New Delhi, India, Ms. Sopori immigrated to the United States and became a naturalized citizen at age 13.  Following her graduation from the University of Pennsylvania, she earned a J.D. at the University of Virginia School of Law.  She litigated civil cases with Quinn Emanuel and then served as an award-winning federal prosecutor at the United States Attorney’s Office, where she was appointed Project Safe Childhood Coordinator for the Central District of California.  Undefeated at trial, she prosecuted a wide array of felonies involving complex fraud, cybercrime, and violent drug crime.  She is the President of Women in Media and has served on the boards of multiple nonprofit civic and arts organizations, including as General Counsel to the renowned Groundlings Improv Theatre & School.  Ms. Sopori lives in Los Angeles with her husband Eric Emanuel and their two sons Atticus and Jai. 



Samir Mehta 

Samir Mehta is a partner in intellectual property at Stinson, LLP. He lives in St. Louis with his wife (also a partner at a law firm) and two young children. Samir came to law as a second career after working in the software industry for nearly a decade in northern California. He studied at Duke University, graduating in 2001, and studied law at Washington University in St. Louis, graduating in 2011. Both those years were times of tremendous downturns, so he is experienced in finding employment in bad markets. 



Rippi Gill

Rippi Gill is Assistant Vice President, Senior Counsel at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, in which capacity she primarily focuses on supporting the Company's Property and Programs Teams and business. Rippi previously served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the New York City Law Department, Office of the Corporation Counsel. She began her career serving as a judicial law clerk for the Staff Attorney’s Office for the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.Rippi currently serves on the Executive Committee of the South Asian Bar Association of North America (SABA) as President-Elect and will succeed to President of SABA in June 2020. She has also previously served as the Vice President of the Development and Vice President of Annual Conference. She is also a past President and former Director of the South Asian Bar Association of New York (SABANY). She is a regular author and speaker on various litigation and coverage-related issues, as well as diversity and inclusion initiatives.
