Orlando-Area Attorney Rishi Bagga Sworn In as President of the South Asian Bar Association of North America

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 15, 2017 – Rishi Bagga, attorney at The Law Office of Rishi S. Bagga, P.A., an Orlando-based law firm, was sworn in as the 15th President of the South Asian Bar Association of North America (SABA North America) at SABA’s Annual Convention in Washington, D.C.

As President of SABA, Bagga will lead an organization that includes more than seven thousand members located in the U.S. and Canada. In addition to serving as a board member for SABA for 3 years, Bagga is a past president of SABA Florida.

During the 2017 Convention in Washington, D.C., Bagga announced his agenda to grow SABA to address modern challenges faced by South Asian attorneys and South Asian community members. Bagga will leverage technology to facilitate dialogue between chapters and strengthen the link between the organization’s chapters. He also hopes to promote efforts to educate the community regarding their legal rights and strengthen partnerships with other South Asian professional organizations.

Bagga emphasized the role of lawyers in responding to an increase on crimes against the South Asian community. “Most of us are the first generation of lawyers in our family” Bagga stated. “And as such, we have a responsibility to serve our community. We have a responsibility to counsel our community. We have a responsibility to advocate for our community. We have a responsibility to lead our community. This is not an option – it is our duty. Because our community’s future depends on us, our community’s lawyers.”

As the founder of The Law Office of Rishi S. Bagga, P.A, Bagga represents small and mid-sized businesses throughout Florida. Additionally, he serves as General Counsel for his family-owned hospitality business and is an Adjunct Professor for Hospitality Law at Valencia College in Orlando. Prior to operating his practice, he worked in a statewide insurance defense firm, and is a former Assistant State Attorney for Miami-Dade County, Florida.
