We’re excited that SABA Ohio is hosting this year’s Leadership Retreat! We hope that you will join us in rocking Cleveland. Leadership Retreat is open to the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, Chapter Presidents, Committee & Section Chairs, Convention Committee, National Advisory Council and Foundation Trustees to get together and plan not only for the upcoming year, but for our organization’s long-term plans.

When: September 22-23

Friday Reception Hosts
Saturday Board Host

Thank you to SABA Ohio for all their work in planning this weekend. 

Friday Evening Welcome Reception – 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

Schneider Smeltz Speith Bell LLP and AABA Ohio will be welcoming us at the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (1375 East 9th St. Floor 2). We will head to an informal dinner at Masthead Brewing Company (1261 Superior Dr.) after the Reception. Attendees are responsible for their dinner costs. Dress for the reception is business.

Saturday Board Meeting –  9:00 a.m.-noon & Break Out Sessions – 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.

Thompson Hine (3900 Key Center, 127 Public Square) will be providing us the space for our meetings on Saturday. Breakfast will be available for all attendees beginning at 8:30 a.m. All Key Tower visitors need to check in at the main security desk in the lobby, before allowed to access the elevators to the Thompson Hine offices on the 39th floor. Attendees will be required to show a valid ID (driver’s license etc.).   Please allow a few extra minutes to negotiate these access restrictions. Convenient parking is available in the Memorial Plaza Garage accessed off of St. Clair Ave. (underground garage just East of the Marriott).  Parking in the Memorial Plaza Garage will be validated. Dress is business casual. The NAC will be meeting at the same time in a separate room.

We have organized afternoon workshops to help with chapter and committee management. Bring your questions, success stories and plans.

1:30 – 4:30 p.m. – Foundation Trustee Meeting

1:30 – 2:20 p.m. Chapter Management with Anne Gwal, Sonjui Kumar & Jolsna John

2:30 – 3:20 p.m. Immigration Clinics/Know Your Rights Program with Saraa Basaria, Sa’adiyah Masoud & Kalpana Peddibhotla

3:30 – 4:20 p.m. Social Media/Publicity/etc. with Ranjan Agarwal & Aneesh Mehta

Saturday Night – 6:00 p.m. until

Dinner will be at Dante’s Inferno in the Flats, 1059 Old River Rd., Cleveland OH 44113.  It’s a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel or a short Uber/Lyft ride. Dante Boccuzzi is one of Cleveland’s local celebrity chefs and we are delighted to sample his fare. We’ll stay there or head to karaoke. Please tell Anjula your preference as soon as possible.

We are still confirming our reservations, but plan on a casual night starting with dinner at 6 p.m. and a fun activity to follow. Attendees are responsible for their own costs.

Stipend Information: We are pleased to be able to provide a stipend to help our Board members attend this Retreat. Applicants are eligible for up to $500 to help defray the costs of travel and accommodations. We can provide up to 20 stipends, but only one stipend will be granted per Chapter. You must return the Stipend Application to Anjula Singh at to be eligible for a stipend.

Weather: With lows in the mid-60s and highs in the low 80s, Cleveland is giving us a beautiful Midwest weekend.
